convertci vs Convertio vs FreeConvert: Which Should You Use?

An honest, no-spin comparison — because pretending we're better at everything would just be dishonest.

Let's Be Upfront About Something

Convertio and FreeConvert have been around for over a decade. They support hundreds of formats, process millions of files, and have entire engineering teams behind them. We're not going to pretend a newer, smaller tool "beats" that kind of scale — it doesn't, at least not yet. What we can honestly say is where convertci does things differently, and let you decide what matters more for your specific need.

Where the Established Players Win

Where convertci Does Something Different

1. You don't need to know the format name

Most converters require you to already know what you want: pick "WEBP" from a dropdown, for example. convertci's "AI Convert" box lets you type what you actually mean — "shrink this for WhatsApp" or "make this a PDF" — and it works out the technical settings for you. It's a small thing, but it removes a step that trips up non-technical users.

2. It's not just a converter

A QR code generator, a QR code repair tool (diagnosing why a code won't scan — something we haven't found on any other converter site), and a PDF compressor all live under the same roof. If you're doing several small file tasks in one sitting, that's fewer tabs open.

3. Nothing is stored, by design

Most of convertci's tools run entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device. Some competitors say something similar for specific tools, but it's not universal across their whole product. We've built it that way from the ground up for the tools we currently offer.

So Which Should You Actually Use?

If you need a common image conversion (PNG, JPG, WEBP, HEIC), want to fix a broken QR code, or need a quick PDF size reduction — convertci genuinely does the job, and does it without uploading your file anywhere. If you need video/audio conversion or an obscure format, use FreeConvert or Convertio; there's no reason to fight our current limitations when a better tool for that specific job already exists.

Try it now — nothing is ever uploaded.
